A little update on Erma
Erma did lose a bit more of her hearing in both ears and now requires hearing aids. She was really emotional when she found out she would need them long-term, but she’s already come such a long way in processing it. Yesterday we had her fitting appointment, and she even picked out the colors for her hearing aids (glitter of course). We’re excited to order some hearing-aid charms so she can accessorize them and make them her own.
Right now treatment is paused while she continues to heal. She still has a pretty rough cough and gets winded easily, but she is getting a little stronger every day. Our hope is that she’ll make a full recovery from this setback and be able to start radiation toward the end of the month or the beginning of April!
Even though treatment has slowed down for the moment, life is still moving forward. We’re staying busy with school, homeschool, octupational therapy, physical therapy, and soon speech therapy as well.
There’s also a chance we might get a short break soon where we could go home for a week. We’re still deciding if that would be the best choice for her right now, but we’re definitely looking forward to finding a small getaway for a few days if we can.
Although the final end date for treatment keeps getting pushed back, we’re incredibly grateful for a medical team that is being so careful and making sure Erma is healthy and strong!
Thank you all so much for the continued prayers and support! We love y'all!
