When we first moved into housing on St. Jude’s campus, Erma couldn’t walk.

One day, I filmed her running down the hallway, and I remember being completely amazed at how far she had come. There was something about the hallways in Domino’s Village that made my kids want to run, and every chance I got, I would record them racing down them as a little reminder of the progress she had made.

Yesterday, we had our last run down that hallway.

It’s hard to put into words what it felt like to walk away from the place we called home for the last year. These hallways witnessed some of our hardest days (and I’m sure our neighbors heard some of those hard days ), but they also witnessed incredible healing.

A year ago, I never could have imagined that the little girl who couldn’t walk would one day be running down these halls. Leaving is bittersweet, but mostly it’s a reminder of how far she’s come. We’ll always be grateful for St. Jude and the chapter of our story that happened!

Erma girl, I can't wait to see what doors open for you and where you will run next!
