Tomorrow is Cell Day!
In addition to praying with us at 9 a.m., we would love to see you showing your support by wearing your Erma’s Army shirts and bracelets tomorrow.
Tomorrow, Erma will receive her stem cells to rescue her body after days of high-dose chemotherapy. She’s just starting to feel the effects, nausea and the beginnings of the dreaded mucositis. She received a dose of morphine to help ease the pain, but after Cell Day we will likely need to start a pain pump to better manage it. We’ve also seen a new symptom of neuropathy, but it’s being managed easily and doesn’t seem to bother her too much anymore. The first few days we were very active and did a million crafts, but now we’re content to lay in bed, watch movies, or listen to her Tonies.
Even though things are hard at times and she’s beginning to experience some pain, I am still so full of hope because every day means we are closer to the end of this difficult chapter. As usual when we’re in the hospital, she’s been dreaming about all the things she wants to do when she’s “done with cancer.” Over the past few days she’s asked to dye her new baby hairs red, go dog sledding, see the Northern Lights, see a narwhal (thank you, Wild Kratts), and eat sushi. We’re going to be very busy giving her all the experiences once we get out of here… though I’m not too sure about that narwhal!
Thank you again for praying with us, spoiling Erma, and believing with us in her miracle healing, which we know we will see.
