I wanted to share a few updates on Erma!

Yesterday was a rough one with a fever and some hard transitions, but we are so thankful to be finishing our last day of radiation today! We’re also excited to finally be getting her hearing aids on Wednesday. We have some big days ahead and a big prayer request as we go into Erma’s scans.

For Erma’s cancer, they measure her disease burden using a Curie score from a nuclear medicine (MIBG) scan. This is on a scale from 0–30. Going into her last scan, we were really expecting her to be clear or at least have a very low number. After some back and forth, it was ultimately decided her Curie score was a 4. She still has disease in her pelvic bones and parts of her spine.

Here are the upcoming scan dates:

April 28th: MRI of her pelvis

April 29th: MRI of her spine and a chest CT

April 30th: MIBG scan and bone marrow biopsy

During these days, please pray steadfastly. Light candles, fast, wear your Erma’s Army t-shirts, and speak complete healing over Erma. We are asking you to pray specifically for clear scans and a Curie score of zero.

I struggled with writing this because I so deeply want everyone to pray for Erma, and I firmly believe in the power of prayer. But I also feel a responsibility to be honest. Caleb and I know that it’s not likely we will see completely clear scans on the 30th. That’s hard to say, but I want to prepare people because I don’t want anyone to feel like God isn’t working or moving if the results aren’t what we’re praying for.

God is the only one who knows how Erma’s story will end. And if He chooses not to give us clear scans right now, we still believe he is willing and able to heal her.

Erma can live with stable disease, I know kids who are. And she isn’t done with treatment. We still have six months of immunotherapy ahead, which is such a miracle treatment. I truly believe it will help lower her Curie score and move her closer to being cancer-free.

Thank you for believing in Erma’s miracle and for continuing to pray with us. Please mark your calendars for April 28th, 29th, and 30th.
